HONG KONG, 7 November 2019 – Operation Santa Claus (OSC), jointly organised by Radio Television Hong Kong (RTHK) Radio 3 and the South China Morning Post (SCMP), kicked off its “From Hong Kong with Love” campaign today (7 November) at the HKEX Connect Hall to much fanfare, with the announcement of 13 beneficiaries that will benefit from community-wide charity events that contribute to causes that serve children and youth, and individuals with physical and mental disabilities. OSC also introduced its first-ever Ambassadors, national swimmer and Olympian Stephanie AU, as well as local celebrity CHAU Pakho.
The event was attended by Executive Council Convenor Bernard CHAN and Charles LI, Executive Director and Chief Executive of Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited, as the Guests of Honour. Radio Television Hong Kong’s Director of Broadcasting LEUNG Ka-wing and South China Morning Post’s Editor-in-Chief Tammy TAM also jointly officiated the launch ceremony that marks the beginning of a series of fundraising events held throughout November and December.
With Christmas coming to town, the campaign theme “From Hong Kong with Love” aims to inspire the city by sharing the gift of hope and kindness to brighten the lives of the needy. OSC this year will have a strong sports theme with a 5-aside football tournament on 24 November and other sports-related events organised by OSC donors and beneficiaries.
OSC will salute its most outstanding supporters at the end of the campaign with special awards in various areas, namely “Top Corporate Fundraiser Award”, “Top School Fundraiser Award”, “Most Creative Fundraiser Award” and “Most Creative School Award”. The award list will be announced during the closing ceremony of OSC in February 2020.
“Operation Santa Claus 2019” Launch Ceremony was hosted by Alyson HAU, and featured performances by Accapella Metro Vocal Group and the Oboe and Cor Anglais Duo 2S.
