Our community
The growth of the South China Morning Post is intrinsically linked with that of Hong Kong and we owe a large part of our success to the people of this remarkable city.

Our charity initiatives are driven by the desire to give back to our home and enrich the lives of Hongkongers, which is why we’re proud to serve the city with several community campaigns.

Operation Santa Claus
Operation Santa Claus (OSC) is an annual charity campaign jointly established by the South China Morning Post and Radio Television Hong Kong (RTHK). Its mission is to "encourage the spirit of giving love and care". Through the combined charitable fundraising power of two of Hong Kong’s most respected news organisations, OSC provides a platform for uniting Hongkongers for a good cause during Christmas, connecting corporations, schools and members of the public with charities serving meaningful causes.

Spirit of Hong Kong
The Spirit of Hong Kong Awards (SoHK) is an annual campaign co-organised by the South China Morning Post and Sino Group to celebrate the achievements of truly remarkable people who might otherwise be off the radar. The awards champion selfless contributions of real people in our Hong Kong home.
Student of the Year
Student of the Year
The Student of the Year Awards is Hong Kong’s most prestigious, annual, secondary school event. Organised by Young Post and the South China Morning Post and sponsored by the Hong Kong Jockey Club, the awards have been running for over forty years. With the support of the Education Bureau of the HKSAR Government, Student of the Year and its satellite awards are a way for schools to acknowledge the achievements of outstanding senior-level students.
