WAN-IFRA created the Asian Digital Media Awards, with more than 50 media companies from 16 countries across Asia and the Middle East participating, to recognize the best examples of how individuals and organisations have embraced emerging technology and concepts in Asia.

It has been a year of awards for the South China Morning Post. It picked up 11 awards in the Society of Publishers in Asia Editorial Awards 2012. It also took 10 awards at the Human Rights Press Awards, as well as nine awards in the Society of News Design’s news design competition.
