Manager, Merchandising - Enterprise Subscriptions & Partnerships

Purpose of the position:

Reporting to the Associate Director, Global Partnerships & Content Licensing, you will be responsible for product and business development of SCMP’s physical and digital (inc. NFTs) merchandising - from ideation, strategic planning, product development, execution & fulfilment to tapping into new markets & communities for new business opportunities and sales. This role is an exciting opportunity for an all-rounded candidate to be involved in the entire lifecycle of SCMP’s products and to build out.


Job Responsibilities


  • Strategic ideation and product strategy development
  • Product development and delivery
  • Online shopify management
  • 2B Sales, business development and contract negotiations
  • Vendor proposals and negotiations
  • Marketing and engagement strategies - Partner/Customer operations and community management
  • Independently manage your funnel from product ideation, vendor negotiations and fulfilment.
  • Order fulfilment and delivery
  • Reporting - Industry metrics and historical data to 
    • Track progress against set targets and goals
    • Spot opportunities and deliver insights to improve business opportunities & performance
  • Connect and collaborate with internal teams and functions to create product and operational solutions
  • Build a strong working knowledge of SCMP’s evolving media & content ecosystem to help make the right recommendations.


Industry Experience

  • Merchandising, product development and/or e-commerce experience preferred
  • Web3, Crypto, NFT experience a bonus
  • Knowledge of the digital and news media industry is a plus



Job Requirements


  • Shopify experience a must
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in data-driven strategic product development, e-commerce sales (including working with agreements) or merchandising role
  • Project management a plus
  • Creative ability to ideate product development, strategy and sales opportunities & solutions and independently & proactively initiate and develop them to fruition
  • Strong interpersonal skills. Demonstrated record of cross-functional collaboration, internally & externally
  • Data aptitude. Able to turn data into a narrative (identifying issues and suggesting solutions)
  • Ability to work in a fast pace and changing environment: Flexible and comfortable working with ambiguity
  • Creative, curious & passionate with a willingness to learn
  • Solutions and results driven, solving problems collaboratively
  • Experienced in Google Slides, Docs &  Sheets or PowerPoint, Excel, Word
  • Impeccable interpersonal, written and oral English communication. 


Work location will be at Causeway Bay.
