Strategy and Insights Director - Advertising & Marketing Solutions

About the Team: 

We are establishing our Planning practice to drive commercial growth through strategic advisory and business analysis. The Planning team is a agile and dynamic team that partners directly with the SCMP Advertising leadership team to define strategy and drive execution

 

Purpose of the position:

The Strategy & Insight Director will be primarily to lead the Brand & Marketing team and oversee research and analytics projects with the core objectives to drive revenue growth, develop strategic solutions, and create highly effective bespoke market and brand studies supporting the advertising team in Hong Kong, China and Singapore. This role reports to the Senior Vice President, SCMP Advertising. 

 

In this role, you will: 

  • Lead trade marketing with key function in supporting and developing tactical strategies to increase and enhance revenue streams across all products – Print, Digital & Content Solutions. 
  • Possess strong analytical and interpretive skills to create insightful, data-driven client presentations leveraging custom studies, SCMP’s proprietary tools “Lighthouse’ and ‘Signal’ as well as syndicated research to support the advertising team. 
  • Analyse data, and provide critical analytics and compelling intelligence reports that supports and drives advertising investment.
  • Be able to analyse and collate marketing information & audience understanding using available research and syndicated tools to elevate SCMP Advertising profile in the industry and support client solutions.
  • Drive the commercial business by presenting compelling sales arguments to the ad sales teams, agencies and clients, aligning to the brief and SCMP’s credentials.
  • Partner with other internal teams (i.e Consumer Marketing, Corporate Communications) on larger research initiatives such as content insights, developing industry trend reports, advertising effectiveness studies and thought leadership.
  • Initiate and develop cross-platform strategies to enhance sales pitches.
  • Work closely with Ad Sales and Content Solutions to address advertisers’ briefs by offering insights/data points to develop innovative campaign strategies as well as supportive sales materials.

 

Skills and Experience that will lead to success:

  • 8+ years experience in marketing, insights, planning or media agency experience across APAC markets.
  • Have strong experience in conducting and managing primary research projects as well as the ability to articulate complex topics to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Experience in digital essential – being able to lead and evolve digital audience research techniques and a deep understanding of audience online behaviours.
  • Substantial experience in a market analysis environment, including experience of international market research. 
  • Good understanding of brand, media and performance analytics. Ability to present audience analysis in a compelling way. Ability to interpret data and recommend action on a variety of analyses.
  • Keen interest and understanding of digital products, social platforms, best practices and other emerging media and understanding global media developments. 
  • Ability to lead multiple initiatives simultaneously while upholding quality standards.
  • Enjoy a challenge and thriving in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines while thinking strategically. 
  • Experience supporting relationships at a senior level across brands and agencies.
  • Demonstrable experience in successfully managing stakeholder relationships at a senior level, especially with editorial, product and sales teams.
  • Experience managing and building a high-performing team.
  • Solid time-management and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills in English, with the ability to confidently and concisely share ideas, objectives and results with key stakeholders.
  • Strong presentation development skills and data analysis; proficiency in Powerpoint, Excel, Google G Suite, Salesforce.

 

Work location will be at Causeway Bay office.
