Senior Commercial Data Analyst - Advertising & Marketing Solutions

Purpose of the position:

SCMP is committed to helping our business and advertising partners understand our global audience so we can continue to deliver news and advertising content that adds value to our readers. Reporting to the Product, Innovation and Partnership function, you will take the lead in developing and refining our audience data collection and research initiatives, as well as managing various practices and ad techs that empower such processes, and in turn facilitates sales with insight and audience based activations.  You will be collaborating with and supported by the Data team, to contribute in enriching the understanding of our audience and structure our data collection scheme. 


Job Responsibilities

  • Work as the product lead for SCMP’s polls, surveys, and other data collection initiatives. Provide recommendations and insight to optimize collection effort. 
  • Define the data collection strategy to ensure that the data collected are useful and are well structured. 
  • Lead tactical initiatives to derive audience insights based on business priorities 
  • Manage our data management platform (DMP), ensure data collection coverage, and collaborate with the Product Team and Data Team to deploy the necessary tracking and measures to achieve relevant business requirements
  • Work closely with the Sales team to provide relevant audience information and statistics to compile proposals and pitches, and provide audience insight in campaign reports.
  • Create automation and dashboards to provide access to data in a efficient manner 
Job Requirements

  • Degree holder, preferably in Mathematics, Statistics or Computer Science with minimum 3 years+ of work in a related role.
  • Experience in handling large volumes of data and creating visualisations. 
  • Proficient in data analysis or automation with SQL, VBA/Apps Script or Python, etc
  • Should be familiar with Google BigQuery, Google Data Studio, Power BI or Tableau. 
  • Flexible, adaptive, quick learner. Works well in a collaborative, communicative environment.
  • Able to work independently and collaboratively across multiple departments.  
  • Fluency in statistics, distributions, statistical testing, regression analysis etc, as well as scripting and programming framework.
  • Experience in operating a DMP or having advertising media background is a huge advantage


Work location will be at Causeway Bay office.
